KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

All people in the United States, regardless of their citizenship or immigration status, have guaranteed basic rights in the United States under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. It’s important to become familiar with your rights, how to express them, and what to do in various situations.

“Know Your Rights: Prepare Your Family for Immigration Enforcement” covers multiple rights that you should know, how to develop an emergency response plan, what to do if you are in immigration detention and how to register U.S. born children in your home country. The appendices also have contact information for immigration legal services, consulates, and government offices, as well as pages that you are encouraged to fill out with emergency contacts, medical needs, and insurance information to have on hand.
